Fries with that?

I remember working at the movie theatre back during work experience week. I soon discovered, however, that working at the movies is more like working at a cafe-serving food and drinks instead of spinning movie reels. So this comic is kinda true...

One particularly traumatic experience during said week: I was serving coffee and tea as usual, when who walks in? My Guitar teacher. So, here I am trying to make him the best damn cuppa joe he'd ever remember, in an effort to impress him. Two hours later, after the movie ended, he says I did a good job. I was, of course, feeling pretty upbeat after that.

...until a second movie-goer walked out and said that her cup of tea "tasted like hot water", and was "the worst (she'd) ever had".

Needless to say, cafe work is not my intended line of work from now on.

And finally, Jarrod actually came up with this comic idea. Hence, for a third bloody time, his name gets put in the credits as well...

Thanks to Charlie...

You might have noticed the sudden appearance of that flashy new picture on your right.

Charlie Renwick (who you may have noticed has also appeared in the "Some People we Know" section) gratiously drew up this piece of artwork to promote the site. From all of us here at Three's a Game (A.K.A.: all 1 of me), we'd like to thank her for taking up 4 whole hours of her precious time to draw this.

You can see more of Charlie's works here. And feel free to congratulate her in the comments section.

EDIT: Is anyone else reading what "anonymous" just said?!

...I don't think this plan's going to work out.

This pretty much sums up a conversation real-world me and Jarrod had. Hence, Jay Rod gets his name in the comic too.

Expect the unexpected...

So far, only 7 people have voted on the poll. That means that I'm down two whole readers!!!

EDIT: After a few more votes (now up to ten!), here's the breakdown:

4 votes for Daget
2 votes for Jarrod
3 votes for Allie
and 1 vote for Liam!

Of course, I can't guarantee that someone didn't vote multiple times...

If you look to your right... might notice that I've started writing a "character bios" page. I intend to produce some pictures to go with them soon.

My blog is finally growing up...

EDIT: Ok, now said pictures are up.

And I worked really hard on it too...

O.K., that's the weekly comics finally caught up with. Thank you for understanding...

Oh, who am I kidding? How many people out there are actually reading this?

Glug Cola!

Over the weekend, I was working on this. I hope this explains why I'm so far behind on the comics.

I know, the quality's pretty horrible. Must be YouTube's fault.

A Challenge...

...wouldn't this brighten up those business meetings of yours?

Job description

...not again...

I admit, this one was a bit rushed. I'll have to make up for this lack of serious work on Friday I suppose...

Artwork 3

No comic today. Clearly I'm a horrible webmaster.

On the other hand, here's two more drawings I did:

I really like the second one. I can honestly say I'm proud of it.

These are both concepts for a Machinima series set after the events of Halo 3. Not that I'm saying it's going to be made in the forseeable future.

...just by posting this comic, I'm killing my own reputation.

Halo: Reach's revamp on Firefight is looking promising. From what I hear; 6 players, matchmaking support, customisable Firefight options...AND A PISTOL THAT CALLS IN F*CKING AIR STRIKES!!!

...Call of Duty fans are probably crying foul of me right now.

And the level of customisation available is insane. 9 levels of customisable armours parts (not including Firefight voice), with at least the helmet having additional customisation options, and varying body structures for both male and female Spartans, is pretty damn impressive. On top of that, full integration of your Spartan into both Multiplayer AND Campaign modes. Then there's still the customisable options behind custom games and (aforementioned) firefight-with a helluva lot more options available from Halo 3. I can't wait to see what else Bungie has to hide...

Finally, you may have noticed that extra name below panel 4. I have to admit, Jarrod actually came up with this comic, I just drew it.

...oh God no...

...I'm not doing what I think I'm doing, am I?

Seriously though, I'm pretty stoked about the inclusion of space battles in Halo: Reach; after all, Halo is a game about exploring the universe, it's about time we got to fly around in it!

Welcome to Hell

I know, I know: I need to fill my quota on E3 comics. I'm trying to get some more written up; I have at least 3 other comic ideas in the wings, so I'll try to get 'em up as quickly as possible.

Also, take note of the title.

Should've come with a warning

A couple of days ago, the Dead Space website offered visitors the chance to watch an exclusive trailer for Dead Space 2 that was sent to them via e-mail.

I got that e-mail.

What I was "treated" to was a Necromorph Puker attacking Isaac's face (with a name like "puker", it's not too hard to guess what it does). Then, Isaac proceeds to vomit himself, before falling into the remains of both his and the Puker's breakfasts.

...maybe I shouldn't have clicked that link...

Oh, and I just realised that I forgot to colour Allie's eyes. Damn. The entire comic is ruined.

EDIT: looks like I found a copy of that video. Unlike my E-mail, this will come with a warning: this video is not for the faint of heart...or those with a weak stomach. If you're still game, here's the video:

...Alright, Dead

See the comments section? I'd prefer it if you wrote your hate mail there.

For some reason, I've been convinced that Dead Space 2 will indeed be a good game. And yet...I don't know why. The new E3 gameplay trailer showed off a couple of new weapons, enemy types...and of course, a friggin helicopter battle!

The Unenlightened...

Hey Liam, remember how you said you wanted to be a character in the comic?'s this?

And yeah, the events of this comic actually happened. No joke.

Poor timing

All 9 of you are going to hate me for this.

E3's mere hours away, and yet fate has backstabbed me. Again.

As it turns out, I need to be both interrogated at a naval base and wait for a man named "Godot" this week, so there might be some delay in any E3 related comics.

I know. It sucks.

Nonetheless...I'm sure I'll get my revenge. How many nuclear warheads do modern naval bases keep these days...?

Poll-larity (and other horrible puns)

Unfortunately for you all, I already know exactly who's going to win the "Dibs Paxton" standoff.

It's nice to know that at least 9 people out there are either reading these comics, or at least have found this blog. Now to get to work making that a two-digit number!

Dead Alright...

I'm not sure what you think about the new Dead Space 2 gameplay video, but I was disappointed. I suppose I wanted something

The graphics are looking pretty good, I suppose, as well as being able to move in zero-gee a little easier-'cept we already knew about that.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much...

E3's only a few days away, I still have faith that something better will turn up.

EDIT: Hmm...maybe I should've noticed that shiny new Javelin Gun and the Puker enemy. I guess I should've taken a little more time to watch this...

Hate mail in the comments section, if you please-um...

Artwork 2

One more piece of "artwork"

A lone SpecOps Elite wanders down a deserted street in New Mombasa.

The end.

Internal War

It's hard to have faith in Transformers...than you see something like War for Cybertron, and your entire philosophy on the world changes.

It scares me...

Attention, class

Continuation from "Schoolies"

The sad truth is...this comic is pretty much true.

I'm not kidding about the Dante's Inferno references either. Check this page out to find out more.

Now, all (8) of you might have noticed the sudden slowing in publishing. Like I said earlier, I've decided to restrict how many comics I post each day, so that I don't use up all of my good ideas before I come up with more.

Here's the deal: during E3 I'll be improvising comics. As soon as I come up with a punchline about an E3 video, it'll get put up. After that, comics will be published every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, per standard publishing scheduals. However, if a piece of gaming news appears and I come up with a comic for it, it'll be posted outside of schedual.
Got it? Good.

Dear Shmuck

"...I don't think you answered the question"

Seriously though, feel free to comment on the comics, and maybe I'll answer some of your questions, just like this.

...please comment. I want to feel loved...

And you can read the original message from Shmuck here. Yeah, I get it; I was spamming the forum in the hope of attracting some readers. Can we let it go now?

Arby's a Bad Man

Love rap music? Love John Cena?

Me neither.

Even so, you might get a kick out of this music video of John Cena and Bumpy Knuckle's Bad Bad Man I made, using clips from Ensemble Studio's Halo Wars.

This was actually the 2nd out of five comics I wrote in a single day. Maybe I should start limiting how many comics I publish per day, or else I'm gonna run out of ideas in a matter of weeks...

Out of Reach

See that look on my face in panel 4? That's the last thing anyone wants to see. The last time we saw that, the words "Dibs Paxton" were lasered into the Earth's crust.

Star Signs

The battle may be over, but the war has merely begun.

Getting a little out of hand now...

How is Allie going to match this, I wonder...?

...just as I...wait, what?

...I definitely did not foresee this...

...just as I dreamed it would...

Oh, it on.

No comic just yet. Instead, I thought I'd upload some sketches I've been doing. Y'know, instead of schoolwork:

Here's a character concept for a Machinima we never finished. Mystery heroic character artistically stands in front of a Covenant fleet glassing some hapless human colony.

Also from that same machinima. The lone, mysterious Elite stands in the dark, cold and rainy skyline of New Mombasa. No doubt the rest of his brothers have fallen victim to the Brute massacre below.

And moving away from the Halo fiction, this is concept for another Machinima series entirely, which may get done after all. Notice any F.E.A.R. 2 references here?

That's it. I'm no Leonardo Da Vinci.

Comments fix

I've changed the comments settings so that anyone can comment, even if they don't have a Google account.

Because, hey, I like pretending that people read this, and have valid opinions on the comic.

The War Has Begun...

Something tells me this isn't the last time we'll hear the words "Dibs Paxton"...

Not that I have a problem with the new F.E.A.R. 3 trailer, but it doesn't really show us anything we haven't seen before. Except ATC in big black & blue suits that kick hapless cameramen in the face. Still, I could listen to that sweet, sweet soundtrack for hours on end.

And not that it's been confirmed, but it looks like Paxton Fettel is invulnerable to bullets. All of us Halo fans are probably screaming out that this is completely unfair, since Paxton can calmly walk around whistling whilst Point Man is desperately seeking cover with only a sliver of health left. I'm sure though that Fettel can either take damage-same as Point Man-or he's completely useless without a helpless Replica's body to take over. After all, what's Paxton on his own got? A little magician's levitation trick?

Gear'd Up

Prepped to go

The trio are just getting ready for the new comic. Here's a photo from the studio:

Green screen of death!

Thursday, June 3, 2010

I know many out there won't agree with me, but I personally am hoping for a Resistance sequel to be announced at E3 this year. Don't know why? Go watch the final cutscene.

Also...we have a pink furnace for some reason.

Faking Sickies

WARNING: If you're a fan of the Call of Duty franchise, do not read this comic! might sprain something.

Camp Site

And ironically, Jarrod goes to Venturers. It's like Scouts, but for grown-ups.

In other words, not me.

Good Times

I was planning on finishing the "romantic subplot" first, but I had this ready to go, so I thought; what the hell?

Good Communication

We understand each other...

O.K., I lied. I can't snipe to save my life. Literally.
